I'm Lisa. That's me on the left! I studied photojournalism at Texas A&M University in the early 1990s while working on my bachelor's. in journalism. After graduation I went to work for a variety of newspapers here in Texas as a reporter, editor and photojournalist. I soon developed a taste for sports and life photography. Being a journalist didn't fit so well with baby-raising, however, so I took a break to be at home with my little ones. I then spent the next 10 years filling album after album and wall after wall with photos of those babies. When my youngest began walking and pushing away from me, the old photojournalist in me began to yearn to break out. I took a refresher course with the New York Institute of Photography and plunged into a series of seminars, workshops and photo courses. My love of photography grows every day. I share what I learn with my students in the photography class offered through New Braunfels Independent School District Community Education as well as private tutoring.

As a mother of three, I have a passion for portraiture of children and families, pregnant moms and babies -- especially nursing babies. I try to use my experience in photojournalism to capture the warmth and fun in family relationships. I see beauty in everyone and it's my goal to bring that beauty into print.

I recently joined an amazing group of volunteer photographers with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep -- an organization that provides beautiful portraits of babies born with severe health issues that will prevent them from ever leaving the hospital. This is my husband and partner, Jayme. He's my second shooter and my lensboy. The fetcher of my filters and the holder of my reflector. And he shoots some awesome images himself! He earned his B.A. from Texas A&M University in the early 1990s also -- but, alas, we never met as students. It wasn't until we both worked at the same newspaper that our lives finally intersected. Jayme studied fine art photography at Texas State University and continues to learn and grow in his skill every day. Jayme applies his journalism experience to event and publicity shooting, as well as portraiture and landscapes. Jayme also loves to experiment with infrared imaging--photographing scenes with light that lies just outside of the range of human vision. Jayme is an accomplished writer and when he isn't working at the university or helping me on my location shoots, he's plugging away at another book.
