I'm Lisa. That's me on the left. I studied photojournalism at Texas A&M University in the early 90s while working on my bachelor's in journalism. After graduation I went to work for a few newspapers here in Texas as a reporter, editor and photojournalist. I soon developed a passion for sports and life photography. Being a journalist didn't fit so well with baby-raising, however, so I took a break to be at home with my little ones. When my youngest began walking and pushing away from me, the old photojournalist in me began to yearn to break out. I took a refresher course with the New York Institute of Photography and plunged into a series of seminars, workshops and photo courses learning from others who I admired and forcing myself to get tehnical. I attained my Certification (CPP) with the Professional Photographers of America last year. My love of photography grows every day. I share what I learn with my students in the Basics of Digital SLR Photography class offered through New Braunfels Independent School District
Community Education as well as private tutoring.
As a mother of three, I have a passion for children and families, pregnant moms and babies -- especially nursing babies. I try to use my experience in photojournalism to capture the warmth and fun in family relationships. I also adore weddings because they're the start of a whole new family! I see beauty in everyone and it's my goal to bring that beauty into print.
I recently joined an amazing group of volunteer photographers with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep -- an organization that provides beautiful portraits of babies born with severe health issues that will prevent them from ever leaving the hospital. For more information about NILMDTS, visit their website

This is Jayme, my co-pilot, my second shooter, and my best friend. He keeps me sane during tense shoots and he's the one who reminds me to remove my lens cap. He can also shoot some awesome images, including otherworldly infrared photos -- you can find those in the Art Prints for Sale gallery and in the Glamour gallery.
Jayme went to A&M also but we didn't meet until after college while working for the same newspaper.
Jayme continued his photographic education at Texas State University where he studied and continues to study fine art photography. I send him on our product assignments and other jobs that I think fit his talent -- including glamour and events.
When he isn't at the University or chasing after me, he's also hard at work on a book that many of you Texans would love to get hold of. Visit his Chicken Ranch page at

This is Calista, my assistant and my first born. She comes to me for money on a continuous basis so I put her to work. She'll mostly likely be the one in charge of my equipment during family photo sessions. She knows a lot about using a reflector to catch the light and positioning my off camera lighting. She's also my saving grace with young children and can get a smile out of even the shiest little ones. They love her for the rubber chicken she dances with and the fruit snacks she hands out at the end.
